Z-Wave Alliance 2026 Spring Summit Heads to Vienna, Austria, Next Month

As interoperability, scalability, and standards compliance continue to shape the next chapter of the smart home industry, the Z-Wave Alliance is positioning its 2026 Spring Summit as a key gathering point for the channel.

Set for May 27-29 in Vienna, the three-day event will bring together manufacturers, integrators, developers, and Alliance members for a deeper look at the future of Z-Wave—from technical innovation and certification to market expansion and regulatory readiness.

This year’s Summit places a strong emphasis on real-world interoperability, led by the return of Unplug Fest, the Alliance’s hands-on testing environment designed to validate performance in live deployment scenarios.

For 2026, Unplug Fest will focus heavily on how traditional Z-Wave mesh networks and Z-Wave Long Range (ZWLR) operate simultaneously within the same environment. Rather than isolated lab testing, the goal is to demonstrate how multiple device types, network topologies, and dense installations perform under conditions that more closely reflect actual residential and commercial projects.

Participants will test both newly introduced and recently certified devices while exploring network behaviors such as dynamic routing, multicast control, SmartStart onboarding, and automatic optimization through Explorer Frames. The event is intended to reinforce one of Z-Wave’s core value propositions: reliable performance at scale.

While interoperability testing itself remains exclusive to Alliance members, select demonstrations during Unplug Fest will be open to installers and non-members, offering a closer look at how Z-Wave is evolving to support increasingly complex projects.

Following the technical showcase, the Summit transitions into broader industry conversations centered on ecosystem growth and emerging market trends.

Day one opens with remarks from Alliance Chairman Avi Rosenthal, who is expected to outline strategic priorities for the organization and highlight opportunities for continued collaboration across the channel. A member-led fireside chat will follow, focused on the evolution of Z-Wave and the role partnership plays in maintaining momentum in a competitive smart home landscape.

Additional sessions will explore the implications of Europe’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), the emergence of the Z-Wave Wake on Event End Node (WOEEN) role type, and how artificial intelligence may intersect with the future of the intelligent home. Market research and adoption trends will also be part of the discussion, helping attendees better understand where growth opportunities are emerging.

The final day shifts to member-only working sessions across both technical and marketing tracks. Topics will include updates around User Credential Command Class v3 (UCCCv3), Aliro, certification requirements, compliance strategy, and the broader technical roadmap for the platform. Z-Wave Long Range adoption and go-to-market planning will also be central themes as the Alliance looks to strengthen both product development and market positioning.

For the integration channel, the Summit offers more than standards discussion—it serves as a practical lens into where device interoperability, installation efficiency, and long-term ecosystem planning are headed.

Early bird registration for Alliance members is available through April 30, with additional access options for installers, integrators, and non-member companies interested in developing with Z-Wave. Those attendees will be able to participate in select Unplug Fest demonstrations and joint sessions, creating a wider opportunity for the broader channel to engage with the platform’s next phase.
