Josh.ai Adds Home Assistant and Custom Drivers With Nimble DevSuite+

Josh.ai released Nimble DevSuite+ on November 4, giving integrators two new ways to bring specialized devices into a Josh-controlled home. Dealers can connect to a separately hosted Home Assistant system or develop their own drivers for project-specific equipment. Josh.ai previewed both capabilities as part of its ProStudio dealer platform at CEDIA Expo 2026.

The release builds on the integration work Connected Design covered in October, when Josh.ai added support for myQ garage access and PowerShades window treatments. Those integrations used drivers built by Intrinsic Development and Chowmainsoft, respectively, on the original Nimble DevSuite platform. The new tools give dealers more options when a project calls for equipment beyond the existing driver catalog.

Two Routes for Specialized Devices

The optional Home Assistant connection lets dealers tap into the open-source platform’s protocol support through a separate installation. That gives an integrator a way to bring a device into a Josh project using an existing Home Assistant integration, where available, without writing a Josh-specific driver.

Dealers can also write and deploy their own device drivers. Those drivers require additional hardware and fall outside Josh.ai’s certification and support programs. For a retrofit with a piece of equipment the client wants to keep, a custom driver could make it possible to retain that device. The dealer would need to account for testing and ongoing support when scoping the work.

A Certified Integration for Concealed TVs

Separately, Josh.ai introduced its first certified TV lift integration, developed by Chowmainsoft for Nexus 21. Dealers can add preset lift positions to Josh scenes and conditional automations. In a living room with a display concealed in cabinetry, a movie scene could bring the screen into view while adjusting the room’s lighting.

Josh.ai says Nexus 21 lifts of any model or age can work with the integration when fitted with the appropriate Universal Control Hub. For a renovation, that gives the design team a way to keep an existing lift and the millwork built around it while bringing the display into the home’s control system. Nexus 21 supplies the hub directly.
