Just about a week before the doors open for CEDIA Expo 2026, PowerShades announced that it will introduce a new full-cassette automated awning at the show in Denver. The launch marks an expansion of the company’s smart shading portfolio beyond interior automated and manual window treatments and further into outdoor living applications.
The new awning is designed to extend the smart home experience outdoors, combining shade, comfort, and automation in a custom system controlled by remote. With the optional Bond Bridge Pro, users can also add voice control, mobile app control, and integration with broader smart home systems.
“We believe that diversification is the key to long-term success,” Ryan Chacon, co-founder of PowerShades, said in the statement. “The introduction of motorized awnings reflects PowerShades’ strategy to expand into additional aspects of the smart-home setting beyond our popular motorized shades.”
The full-cassette design protects the awning’s fabric and hardware from the elements when retracted, while its low-profile construction is intended to blend with contemporary residential architecture. According to the company, the awning can block up to 98 percent of harmful UV rays and keep the area beneath it up to 20 degrees cooler.
PowerShades will offer the awning with optional integrated dimming LED lighting for evening use, as well as the optional Breeze Pro wireless sensor, which can automatically control the awning based on wind speed, rain or sunlight intensity. The product supports soffit, wall, and roof mounting options.
The awning features aluminum-frame brackets, bars, and arm clamps with a baked-on enamel finish, along with chain-driven arms engineered for durable support and smooth operation. It will be available in multiple frame colors and more than 100 Sunbrella fabric options. PowerShades notes that all awning fabrics are recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation.
PowerShades, part of the Springs Window Fashions family of brands, will also use CEDIA Expo 2026 to showcase a refreshed lineup of interior solar and decorative roller shade fabrics for its automated and manual shade offerings. The expanded fabric program includes 142 new SKUs, with new colorways shaped by current design trends and customer feedback, as well as additional color, texture, and pattern options for solar shades—it also includes allergy-friendly, OEKO-TEX Standard 100-certified and GREENGUARD Gold-certified options.
PowerShades will be at booth #C919 in the Colorado Convention Center.
