The MY Gioia is a 43 meter motor yacht that offers an exceptional cruising experience throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Designed with a modern, elegant aesthetic, it features a spacious interior and a sleek white exterior that reflects contemporary sophistication. With five beautifully appointed cabins accommodating up to 12 guests, MY Gioia delivers the perfect balance of luxury, comfort, and style for unforgettable voyages at sea.
The luxury vessel was commissioned in 2024 for the YachCharterFleet, built by Italian shipyard Codecasa and featuring interior styling by Dutch designer Cor D. Rover Design. With lofty goals in mind, the project had a variety of high-end demands, including a complex onboard technology ecosystem capable of controlling audio and video distribution, multiroom systems, and seamless integration with a whole host of third-party solutions.
All of those systems and products, of course, need to operate flawlessly—at the risk of a hiccup in the guest experience—while also maintaining a nearly invisible presence throughout the craft in order to preserve the yacht’s minimalist design.
To that end, the captain of the yacht introduced the designers to Sereni Elettronica, an Italian integrator with extensive experience as a certified Crestron programmer and previous successful integrations in marine applications.
Sereni’s task: Provide the owner with a system that was intuitive, effortless to use, and required no explanation from the first interaction. Thanks to its user-friendly design and comprehensive portfolio of solutions, Crestron was the ideal choice to meet the vessel’s technical and operational needs.
A Seaworthy Solution
The Crestron system serves as the backbone of the yacht, seamlessly unifying control, monitoring, and entertainment into a single intelligent platform. Beyond traditional AV control, the Sereni integrated the system directly with the vessel’s control panels, allowing operational and navigational data from the ship’s bridge to be displayed on Crestron touch screens throughout the yacht.
Key metrics are presented in a centralized, easy-to-read format, adding a practical layer of situational awareness while maintaining an intuitive user experience. To ensure security and operational integrity, guests and crew have access to different interfaces so that they only view the controls relevant to their role on the yacht.
To meet the owner’s demand for maximum simplicity, a highly innovative QR code-based interface was introduced. By scanning a QR code, guests can instantly access and operate the Crestron system from their own personal devices without downloading apps, creating accounts, or entering credentials. This approach significantly lowers the barrier to entry and ensures that even first-time users can interact with the system effortlessly.
The solution is especially effective during charters, replacing shared remotes that can be lost or mishandled with a secure, personalized interface that can be configured to restrict access to specific zones or features as needed.

That model of sophisticated simplicity was extended to the AV side of things on the yacht as well. Enhancing both entertainment and safety, the system includes intelligent automation features tailored to life onboard. The popular “party mode” allows users to activate audio across the entire yacht, inside the main salon, and the indoor and outdoor dining areas, as well as the top deck with the hot tub, by selecting a single “play everywhere” button on the Crestron touch screen, with audio perfectly aligned through DM NAX technology.
The Crestron system automatically mutes all audio and video if an onboard alarm is triggered, ensuring that guests and crew can focus immediately on any potential emergency. Together, these capabilities demonstrate how advanced technology can elevate comfort, usability, and safety without compromising simplicity or elegance.
The result of the complete solution is an experience unlike any other. Sereni’s successful implementation of the Crestron system delivers a secure yet highly personalized environment for the guest and the crew—one that sets a new standard for luxury living at sea.
