Origin Acoustics is expanding its residential distributed audio offering with the launch of two new Residential Amplifiers, the A850 and A1650, designed to give dealers a more complete Origin ecosystem for whole-home audio projects.
The new amplifiers are built for everyday residential distributed audio applications, giving integrators an economical and dependable option for multi-room music, custom homes, builder-grade residences, and scalable audio installations. For dealers already specifying Origin Acoustics speakers and subwoofers, the addition of dedicated residential amplification creates a more unified path from source to speaker.
The A850 is a 4-zone, 8-channel amplifier, while the A1650 is an 8-zone, 16-channel amplifier. Both models deliver 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms and feature Class D architecture, flexible source routing, independent protection circuitry for each zone, and a compact 1U rack-mount chassis.
For the integration channel, the launch is less about adding another amplifier to the shelf and more about matching the right product to the right project. Origin Acoustics says its amplifier portfolio now includes more than 30 purpose-built solutions across residential distributed audio, DSP systems, architectural loudspeakers, invisible speakers, outdoor entertainment, commercial applications, and high-performance home entertainment.
“At Origin, we don’t believe one amplifier should try to do everything,” said Jeff Brewer, EVP of Sales at Origin Acoustics. “We believe integrators should have the right amplifier for the right experience. Every installation has different performance goals, design considerations, and customer expectations. Our job is to provide the right solution for each one.”
That approach tracks with how residential technology is increasingly being specified. A premium theater, an invisible speaker system, an outdoor entertainment space, and a builder-grade whole-home audio package may all fall under the broader audio category, but they carry very different expectations for performance, design impact, tuning, budget, and long-term use.
The A850 and A1650 are intended for projects where simplicity, scalability, and reliable performance matter more than advanced DSP tuning or specialty use cases. Smart power management modes include Always On, Audio Sense, and 12V Trigger, giving integrators flexibility in how systems are deployed and controlled.
Origin is also emphasizing dealer confidence around availability. The company says the amplifiers are backed by inventory availability and standard three-business-day shipping, giving integrators more certainty when specifying products for active projects.
“Craftsmanship is about choosing the right solution, not forcing one solution to fit every situation,” Brewer added. “That’s how great spaces are designed, and it’s how we believe audio systems should be designed as well.”
