In one of those out-of-left-field sort of ways, Kanto Living announced that it has entered into an agreement with Lippert Components, Inc. to acquire the Furrion outdoor TV brand. It’s not something that we had on our Bingo card for 2026, but it’s also one of those move that makes you just sort of nod your head and think, “Yeah, I can see why.”
For Kanto, acquiring Furrion gives them a complete AV story to tell. The brand currently specializes in audio products, TV mounts, and related accessories for the residential and commercial environments. Adding the Furrion line of outdoor displays, which generally require a solid mount and supporting audio, perfectly complements everything they already do.
“We see a strong opportunity in the outdoor TV and audio category,” David Reid, CEO of Kanto Living, said in a statement. “Our focus will be on ensuring continuity for customers while continuing to support and grow the product line over time.”
On the other side of the transaction, Lippert selling off the Furrion brand also just makes a ton of sense. I don’t mean this as a slight to either company, but Lippert’s own acquisition of the outdoor TV brand just a handful of years ago didn’t really elicit the same sort of head-nodding reaction that this sales does. At that time, Lippert was a supplier of highly engineered components for OEMs in the RV, camping, and watersports markets, and they worked closely with Furrion on some appliance distribution within the same markets.
And then there was the Outdoor TV business.
It just didn’t seem to fit alongside the heating and cooling, kitchen, and camera/observation systems. Instead, it felt like something someone inside the company got excited about and wanted for their own RV setup, so they brought it within the fold of the larger company.
Spinning off the outdoor TV business will give Lippert the chance to really hone in their own efforts while giving the Furrion outdoor TV brand a chance to thrive under the umbrella of a true AV company.
“Furrion has built strong relationships throughout the outdoor entertainment category over many years, and we believe Kanto is well-positioned to continue supporting customers and growing the product line going forward,” Mark Boessler, Sr Vice President, Lippert Aftermarket, said in the statement. “Kanto understands the customer base, the products, and the importance of maintaining continuity throughout the transition.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and Kanto expressed that they expect a smooth transition with no immediate disruption to product availability or customer support.
