Emerald Indefinitely Postpones Total Tech Summits

The Total Tech Summits appear to be no more. While no public announcements were made by Emerald Expo—the owner of CE Pro, the publication behind the well-regarded event—the Total Tech Summit website has been updated to include the following statement right at the top of the page:

“After thoughtful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to indefinitely postpone Total Tech Summit, including the planned 2026 edition. We appreciate the support and engagement of the Total Tech Summit community and thank all those who have contributed to the program over the years.”

Emerald, which is also the owner and operator of CEDIA Expo, continues down the path of “streamlining” its efforts around the custom integration channel in recent months. The quiet shuttering of the event follows a string of layoffs that impacted the CE Pro staff and other event support staff over the past few months.

Former CE Pro editor and current Coastal Source Senior Content and Copywriter Arlen Schweiger shared the news on LinkedIn, adding that the event was “always one of my favorites to attend and host over the years.”

The permanent postponement comes to light just over a month after it was revealed that the Emerald board was reviewing multiple offers to be acquired. Ted Green shared a tremendous deep-dive into the potential sale and a look back at the history of the company since it acquired CEDIA Expo and the various EH Media properties back in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Since then, COVID happened, trade shows ebbed and flowed, and the media landscape has changed dramatically. That’s resulted in some serious uncertainty within the industries they specialize in. And, if the reports of a potential sale are true, the “streamlining” of assets would certainly make sense as they look to capitalize on any potential profit to be made.

Suffice it to say, this appears to be another cost-savings measure that ultimately removes a marquee event from the custom integration calendar.
