Access to education in the custom integration channel is about to get a heck of a lot easier thanks to a new program from CEDIA. In a brief statement, the CI channel’s top association announced the launch of CEDIA Connect, an in-person training platform that will offer integrators the chance to hone their skills and attain their CEDIA Cabling & Infrastructure Technician (CIT) Certification, all in a three-day span.
“For too long, access to in-person training meant traveling long distances and stepping away from the business,” Daryl Friedman, CEDIA’s global president and CEO, said in the statement. “CEDIA Connect is about breaking down those barriers by bringing high-value education directly to our members in the regions where they live and work. Our hope is that this pilot program will provide valuable insight that allows us to refine the education model and expand in-person training to more locations around the world in the future.”
The three-day program is a classroom-based experience that places an emphasis on interactive, hands-on learning. The first two days serve as the main training and learning portion of the program, while the third day focuses on CIT exam review and prep work. The exam itself will also be offered separately for those who wish to sit for it, according to CEDIA.
Participants can approach the program in one of three ways:
- Training only
- Exam only
- Training and the exam
CEDIA said it will pilot this CEDIA Connect program throughout 2026, taking the learnings from this year and applying them to the platform moving forward. To get it off the ground, the association will work closely with ADI to offer CEDIA Connect training at their facilities throughout the country, including Phoenix (April 14-16), Utah (June 23-5), Nashville (August 4-6) and Boston (November 3-5). In addition, CEDIA said the program will complement their Tech & Business Summit events throughout the year.
The cost for the full program will run $299 for CEDIA members and $599 for nonmembers. That does not include the price of the CIT exam, which is $150 for CEDIA members and $200 for nonmembers.
