Magnetar’s UDP900MKII and UDP800MKII universal media players have earned THX Certification, adding another credential to the company’s premium disc playback lineup. Announced November 3, the designation follows testing and evaluation at THX’s laboratories and comes after the MKII Series received Roon Ready certification earlier this year.
For integrators building dedicated theaters and high-performance living room systems, the certification provides an additional reference point when specifying source components. Both models support playback across physical and digital media, including 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, SACD, and networked or locally stored content.
According to Magnetar, the MKII Series was developed with feedback from integrators, dealers, and enthusiasts. The players serve customers who continue to prioritize physical media and high-resolution playback within their entertainment systems.
“THX Certification is a critical independent validation that enthusiasts and integrators look for when building reference-grade systems,” said Rob Jones, president of Magnetar North America. “We’re proud to see both MKII models earn their certification. It reflects the engineering and feedback from customers and dealers that went directly into the creation of the MKII Series, and it gives customers added confidence that these players will deliver the performance they expect, whether that is in a dedicated home theater or a living room.”
The announcement extends THX Certification across both tiers of the MKII lineup: the flagship UDP900MKII and the lower-priced UDP800MKII. THX said both players earned the designation following extensive testing and evaluation.
“Magnetar is a strong force in premium disc playback, and the UDP900MKII and UDP800MKII earned THX Certification after our extensive testing and evaluation in the THX labs,” said Steven P. Martz, vice president, global technology partnerships, THX Ltd. “These media players are built for those who care deeply about seeing and hearing entertainment the way creators intended, which is the founding mission of the THX Certification program. We look forward to continued work and collaboration with Magnetar in the years ahead.”
The UDP900MKII carries an MSRP of $3,399.99, while the UDP800MKII is priced at $1,899.99. Both THX Certified models are available now directly from Magnetar and through its network of authorized dealers and distributors.
