Josh.ai Expands Home Control With myQ and PowerShades Integrations

Josh.ai has expanded its control platform with myQ and PowerShades integrations, alongside updates for Samsung TVs and Sonos Amp Multi. Announced October 15 following CEDIA Expo 2026, the additions cover garage access, natural light, and entertainment, with different installation and licensing requirements for dealers.

For integrators and designers, the practical question is how these capabilities fit the home as a whole. Garage access, window treatments, and audio each serve a different purpose, but the control experience influences how comfortably clients use all three.

More Options for Access and Natural Light

Intrinsic Development’s certified myQ driver controls compatible Chamberlain and LiftMaster garage doors and myQ-connected garage lighting. Dealers purchase and install it per project.

PowerShades support comes through a driver developed by Chowmainsoft. According to Chowmainsoft’s announcement, the integration covers the RF Gateway and first- and second-generation Power over Ethernet motors. Homeowners can set shade levels and open, close, or stop movement through Josh.ai’s touch, text, and voice interfaces. It is available globally at no additional cost for new and existing Josh.ai projects.

For designers and integrators, that adds a control option to the discussion about daylight and privacy. Shade selection still begins with the room and its needs; compatibility helps determine how those treatments will become part of the client’s daily routine.

Both drivers use Nimble DevSuite, the integration platform Josh.ai introduced in 2024. Built on open source technologies to accommodate multiple platforms and protocols, Nimble initially brought integrations spanning lighting, shades, locks, thermostats, fans, fireplaces, and receivers. The new drivers extend that approach through outside developers.

Refining Entertainment Control

Samsung changes improve standby power-on reliability for supported TVs from 2024 onward, including The Frame, and add current-channel reporting. Existing integrated sets migrate automatically without dealer configuration, according to Josh.ai.

Sonos Amp Multi support brings independent playback across up to four zones into Josh.ai, plus VoiceCast responses and notifications through architectural speakers.

The hardware provides useful context for that addition. Sonos designed Amp Multi with integrators for residential installations, combining eight amplified outputs rated at 125 watts each with up to four configurable zones. Its flexible zone arrangement is intended to accommodate changing layouts and uses within a home.

That makes zone control relevant beyond the equipment rack. A kitchen and dining area may function together during entertaining and separately at other times; the interface needs to make the intended listening arrangement understandable to the homeowner.

Josh.ai says the updates are available now through over-the-air delivery across its systems. For project planning, dealers should account for the purchased myQ driver and its installation separately from the no-cost PowerShades integration.
