The CEDIA Foundation has opened applications for its Your Future Fully Integrated Scholarship, a workforce development program designed to help newcomers and career changers take their first steps into the smart home technology industry.
The program offers successful applicants a grant covering the full cost of CEDIA’s Smart Home Fundamentals online training program. Participants who complete the coursework receive a certificate of completion, career coaching and industry contacts, and, in select U.S. and U.K. markets, an invitation to continue into a hands-on residential training bootcamp.
The scholarship arrives at a critical moment for the connected home channel. Integrators, manufacturers, and industry associations have been discussing the same challenge for years: demand for skilled smart home professionals continues to grow, but the industry still lacks a deep, consistent talent pipeline. The CEDIA Foundation’s program is aimed directly at that gap by reducing the cost barrier for entry-level training and creating clearer pathways from education to employment.
According to the CEDIA Foundation, Your Future Fully Integrated is open to newcomers and career changers who are interested in entering the smart home industry. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years old, legally authorized to work in their country of residence, new to the workforce or transitioning from another career, and affiliated with a trade school, career center, or veterans organization. Applicants currently employed in the smart home industry, or by a CEDIA member company that already provides CEDIA training benefits, are not eligible.
The online Smart Home Fundamentals course is self-paced and takes approximately 20 to 25 hours to complete. It covers foundational entry-level technician skills including audio, video, wiring and cabling, termination and testing, construction methods and materials, project processes, equipment installation, retrofit installation techniques, safety practices, and applicable building codes and standards.
For participants in select U.S. and U.K. markets, completion of the online coursework is the prerequisite for a three- to four-day residential bootcamp planned for January or February 2027. The CEDIA Foundation lists training locations in St Neots, U.K.; Kalamazoo, Mich.; Orlando, Fla.; Costa Mesa, Calif.; Rockleigh, N.J.; and Fishers, Ind. U.S. bootcamp invitations prioritize applicants within a 40-mile radius of the listed host locations. Applicants in Canada, Australia and India are eligible for the online coursework only.
The program also connects training to career discovery. Recipients who finish either phase will receive a certificate of completion and a list of CEDIA member companies they may contact as they explore opportunities in the industry.
Applications close Nov. 13, 2026, and online coursework must be completed by Dec. 4, 2026, for participants to be eligible for the hands-on residential bootcamp. The scholarship flyer notes that the program is offered in partnership with DAISY, Amplify People, Crestron and CEDIA.
For an industry built on increasingly sophisticated technology in the home, workforce development is not a side issue. It is central to long-term growth. Programs like Your Future Fully Integrated help translate interest in technology into practical training, industry exposure and career direction, giving the next generation of smart home professionals a clearer place to begin.
