Liaison Technology Group Expands Lighting Platform with Imagine More Acquisition

Liaison Technology Group has acquired Imagine More, a move that brings four retail lighting showrooms and an established e-commerce operation into one of the custom integration channel’s more intentionally built platforms.

The acquisition combines Imagine More’s lighting, window treatment, design, technology, and online retail business with Liaison’s residential and commercial integration capabilities. Together, the companies now span decorative and architectural lighting fixtures, lighting design and control, window treatments, audio and video, automation, networking, security, commercial technology, online fulfillment, installation, and long-term service.

For Liaison, this move continues their strategic growth efforts throughout the channel while also providing them a new avenue for client acquisition. Imagine More gives the company a retail and e-commerce front door, allowing homeowners, designers, architects, and builders to enter the process through a lighting showroom, online product discovery, a design conversation, or a later-stage construction need.

“This acquisition significantly expands how and when Liaison can become part of a project,” Steve Weber, Founder and CEO of Liaison Technology Group and President of Imagine More, said in a statement. “By bringing Imagine More’s four established retail lighting showrooms and growing e-commerce business together with Liaison’s design, engineering and custom integration expertise, we can meet clients wherever their journey begins. It also allows us to collaborate earlier and more closely with designers, architects and builders to create a more complete and coordinated experience.”

Founded in 2009 by Lenard Gale and Don Brehm, Imagine More operates showrooms across Northern Colorado and Cheyenne, Wyoming, with its headquarters in Windsor, Colorado. The company has built a regional and national presence around lighting, window treatments, integrated technology, and e-commerce, and is recognized as one of the largest Hunter Douglas dealers in the country.

That window treatment strength is notable in the broader custom integration conversation. Lighting, shading, and control have become increasingly central to the way integrators engage the design/build community, not as standalone product categories, but as core parts of how a home looks, feels, performs, and supports everyday life. It’s also been the main catalyst in getting integrators into projects much earlier while also putting them squarely in front of the design-build community.

The Imagine More acquisition also fits into a larger pattern for Liaison. Earlier this year, Connected Design covered the launch of Liaison Outdoor Lighting, another move that expanded the company’s reach into a category where design intent, technical execution, and client experience have to work together. Liaison’s current family of companies includes Pro Audio, Liaison Outdoor Lighting, Illuminated Lighting Design, and Sapphire Audio Visual Experts.

Weber discussed that broader growth philosophy on the Connected Design Podcast earlier this year, framing Liaison’s expansion around repeatable systems, communication, and culture rather than footprint alone. “This is about culture building,” Weber said during that conversation, describing the work required to keep a multi-market organization aligned.

The same thinking applies to lighting. In that podcast episode, Weber talked about Liaison’s Fort Myers experience center and the company’s emphasis on helping clients and trade partners understand the difference between ordinary lighting layouts and intentional lighting design. “We want to show good lighting versus bad lighting,” he said.

Imagine More gives Liaison a more established retail environment in which to make that point. Rather than waiting until technology is introduced late in a project, the combined company can become part of the selection and specification process earlier, when lighting, shading, control, electrical planning, and interior design decisions are still being shaped.

For manufacturers and vendor partners, Liaison says the acquisition creates new opportunities to introduce products, influence specifications, and generate demand across retail, e-commerce, residential, and commercial channels. For clients, the value proposition is a more coordinated path from inspiration to installed system, supported by one organization with all the skillsets to effectively complete a project kept in-house.

Logistically speaking, Imagine More has joined Liaison Technology Group through a stock sale transaction and will remain the same legal entity. According to the company, that structure allows existing operations, agreements, customer relationships, and warranties to continue without interruption while giving Imagine More access to Liaison’s broader custom installation infrastructure.

As part of the transition, Imagine More co-founder Don Brehm will retire after more than 15 years with the company. Co-founder Lenard Gale will remain with the organization as Vice President of Lighting Sales for Liaison Technology Group.

All told, the deal is yet another signal that lighting is not just a category expansion opportunity. It is becoming one of the clearest bridges between discovery, design collaboration, and integrated technology experiences.
