Salamander Designs Taps Joel Hall as Director of Commercial as Demand Accelerates

Salamander Designs has named Joel Hall director of commercial business development, a newly created role aimed at supporting the company’s growing commercial AV business as enterprise clients continue to invest in better meeting and collaboration spaces.

The appointment lands at a telling moment for the channel. Hybrid work is no longer a temporary accommodation; it has become an operating model that is steadily reshaping conference rooms, training centers, experience spaces and multi-room enterprise deployments. For integrators and consultants, that shift has raised the stakes around furniture that can support technology cleanly while still meeting expectations for design, ergonomics, quality, and speed of deployment.

Based in Bloomfield, CT, Salamander has built its commercial portfolio around that intersection of technology and the built environment. Its lineup includes AV technology cabinets, tables, media walls, and custom furniture solutions designed to work with leading collaboration platforms and room systems. The company says the new role follows double-digit commercial growth and record commercial engagement at InfoComm 2026.

Chris Discotto, Salamander’s vice president of sales, framed the hire as a response to rising demand from integrators, consultants, and enterprise clients. In the company’s announcement, he said commercial product demand is moving quickly as the expectations for meeting-space ergonomics and design continue to climb.

Hall will focus on commercial demand creation, including relationships with end users, consultants, and national integrators, while also helping grow Salamander’s custom commercial business. He will report to Discotto.

That custom piece matters. Commercial AV projects are increasingly being specified across broader workplace standards rather than treated as one-off rooms. A solution that works in one executive boardroom may also need to scale across huddle rooms, classrooms, training centers, or global campuses. Salamander is positioning Hall’s role around that consultative work: assessing business requirements alongside integrators and consultants, defining furniture around exact project needs and supporting standards that can scale.

Hall brings nearly a decade of commercial AV experience across manufacturing, business development, and strategic partnerships. According to Salamander, he has worked with manufacturers, consultants, integrators, and end users throughout North America, with a track record centered on relationship-building and new business opportunities.

For Connected Design readers, the move is another signal that furniture is becoming a more strategic part of commercial technology planning. As collaboration systems become more capable and more visible inside the workplace, the support structure around those systems has to do more than hide gear. It has to help rooms feel intentional, perform reliably, and fit the visual language of the organization.

Hall pointed to Salamander’s U.S.-based manufacturing, product quality and company culture as reasons the role appealed to him, calling the move an ideal fit for the next chapter of his career.

Salamander Designs manufactures premium handcrafted AV furniture and technology solutions for commercial and residential environments from its 100-percent solar-powered facility in Bloomfield, Conn. The company serves enterprise collaboration spaces as well as home entertainment applications, with customers that include Fortune 500 organizations.
