Origin Acoustics Builds Soundbars Around the Project, Not the Other Way Around

As luxury homes continue to lean into larger displays, custom millwork, outdoor entertainment spaces, and more personalized interiors, the technology inside those homes is being asked to do something more nuanced than simply perform. It has to belong.

That is the idea behind Origin Acoustics’ new Built-to-Order Soundbar offering, which gives authorized Origin dealers the ability to specify soundbars around the requirements of a particular project rather than forcing a standard-sized product into a highly customized environment.

Built in Origin’s Las Vegas manufacturing facility—the same one we recently toured and recorded a podcast in—the new soundbars can be ordered in any custom length to complement a wide range of display sizes and installation conditions. The offering supports indoor and outdoor applications, multiple channel configurations, flexible mounting options, and custom IR spacing. Dealers can also specify Origin’s Ambisonic or DPSD™ Technologies depending on the audio needs of the space.

“Luxury clients expect technology to be as intentional as every other design decision in the home,” said Nick Berry, CEO of Origin Acoustics. “Our dealers are collaborating with architects, interior designers, and builders earlier in the design process than ever before. As those projects become more customized, manufacturers have to deliver solutions that adapt to the project – not ask the project to adapt to the product.”

For architects, designers, builders, and integrators, that shift matters. Large-format displays and bespoke architectural details can create real challenges around proportion, placement, and visual balance. A conventional soundbar may technically fit, but still feel visually disconnected from the room. In luxury residential work, those small mismatches can undercut the larger design intent.

“The best technology disappears into the design,” said Robyn Travaglia, in-house Architectural Designer at Origin Acoustics. “When we work alongside architects, designers, and integrators, the goal is to preserve the integrity of the space while ensuring the listening experience lives up to the expectations of a luxury home. Giving dealers the ability to specify a soundbar that’s built specifically for the project helps achieve both.”

Origin says the Built-to-Order Soundbar program was developed to make that coordination easier for integrators, whether the installation is in a dedicated media room, great room, or outdoor entertainment area. The intent is to give dealers a more precise way to match the audio solution to the display, surrounding architecture, and performance expectations of the client.

“Customization is no longer a special request in the luxury market – it’s the expectation,” Berry added. “Everything we do as a business is to help dealers create exceptional experiences without unnecessary compromises, giving them the flexibility to deliver solutions that feel purpose-built for every client and every project.”
